KP-CNA Bargaining Update #28

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 28th day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente gave a presentation on our longstanding safety committees, which are intended to include representatives from all employee groups as well as management. We explained that the goal of these committees is to maintain an injury-free workplace, and shared examples of successful committee work. This topic continues to be a focus of discussion.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 27th day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente rejected a union proposal on posting of training positions. We also withdrew our proposal that sought to clarify voluntary floating practices. The union presented a revised version of its proposed side letter regarding safety committees.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 26th day of contract negotiations. The parties reached tentative agreements on proposals regarding documentation of premium waivers, and eligibility for premium differential for those nurses who float between certain medical centers, medical office buildings, and satellite medical offices.

KP-CNA Bargaining Update #25

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 25th day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente opened negotiations by expressing our gratitude and appreciation to KP nurses, physicians, staff, and leaders throughout the region for their response to the North Bay fires. KP and CNA signed tentative agreements on proposals regarding scheduling of per diem nurses and removing expired appendices and side letters from the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

KP-CNA Bargaining Extension

Kaiser Permanente and CNA agreed to cancel their bargaining session scheduled for today, to allow KP nurses, physicians, and staff to continue to focus on responding to the fires in the North Bay counties. The parties also agreed to extend the term of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement to Nov. 1, 2017.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 24th day of contract negotiations. In today’s session, Kaiser Permanente and CNA reached a verbal tentative agreement on removing expired appendices and side letters from the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

KP-CNA Bargaining Update #23

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 23rd day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente and CNA exchanged operational proposals and continued to work toward agreement. Kaiser Permanente proposed new wage scales for nurses hired on or after Jan. 1, 2019 in the Sacramento, Central Valley, and Fresno areas, to more closely reflect local costs of living. The new wage scales will not apply to current KP Northern California nurses.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 22nd day of contract negotiations. Earlier today, Kaiser Permanente and the union agreed to extend the contract expiration date to Friday, Oct. 13, to give additional time to reach a tentative agreement.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 21st day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente and CNA engaged in conversations focusing on the union’s Home Health and Hospice and Appointment and Advice Call Center proposals. KP restated its counter proposal to increase the number of committee days for the regional Home Health and Hospice Professional Performance Committee (PPC) and Nurse Quality Forum (NQF).

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 20th day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente presented the union with a framework that would include a nurse as a member in each medical center’s Integrated Workplace Safety Subcommittee, including participation in existing KP workplace safety training.
