KP-CNA Bargaining Update #25

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 25th day of contract negotiations.

What Happened

Kaiser Permanente opened negotiations by expressing our gratitude and appreciation to KP nurses, physicians, staff, and leaders throughout the region for their response to the North Bay fires.

KP and CNA signed tentative agreements on proposals regarding scheduling of per diem nurses and removing expired appendices and side letters from the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). We also formalized the extension of the current CBA to November 1, 2017.

The union presented a counter proposal on floating practices.

There was productive discussion on topics including documentation of premium waivers, safety committees, and more.

 For the Record

After the pause in negotiations caused by the response to the wildfires, we are back at the bargaining table and look forward to reaching a mutually agreeable conclusion to these negotiations. Kaiser Permanente offered to meet and bargain every day, including weekends, for the duration of the contract extension.

What happens next

Bargaining is scheduled to continue Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017. We will continue to keep you informed
