KP-CNA Bargaining Update, July 20, 2022
Today’s session was professional and constructive, keeping with the tone of our previous meetings. Morning discussion reflected on KP’s and CNA’s shared interests to address staffing challenges – including the need to fill positions quickly and reduce reliance on traveler nurses to fill gaps. We look forward to continued dialogue with the union about how we can address these challenges.
In keeping with our shared interest in finding staffing-related solutions, KP presented a proposal to increase staffing flexibility by creating a “spoke support” nurse classification to serve various geographically adjacent locations. This would help reduce reliance on travelers and create additional, benefitted RN positions to take care of our patients and members. We look forward to CNA’s questions, input, and response to this proposal.
CNA’s proposals included an expedited arbitration proposal, a Quality Liaison (QL) proposal to increase the number of QLs; the codification of vacation committees; and a counterproposal regarding the AACC PPC/NQF committee. We are reviewing these proposals for opportunities for mutually beneficial terms that support our patients, members, and employees.
Our next bargaining session is scheduled for Thursday, July 28. We will continue to keep you informed
