Kaiser Permanente – CNA Update #3
Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the third day of contract negotiations.
What happened
Kaiser Permanente’s bargaining team delivered its first proposal, regarding prescheduling of per-diem nurses to cover vacation and educational leave for regular part time nurses. The proposal is intended to create more flexibility in granting nurses’ vacation or education leave, and lessen any disruption to unit operations while nurses are gone.
The union presented three proposals, which focused on nurse education funding, medical coverage for active nurses, and dental benefits. Bargaining ended in the mid-afternoon.
The parties were engaged, listened attentively to the proposals, and asked clarifying questions.
What comes next
Bargaining is scheduled to continue on Thursday, July 27. We will continue to keep you informed.
