KP-CNA Bargaining Update #22

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 22nd day of contract negotiations. Earlier today, Kaiser Permanente and the union agreed to extend the contract expiration date to Friday, Oct. 13, to give additional time to reach a tentative agreement.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 21st day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente and CNA engaged in conversations focusing on the union’s Home Health and Hospice and Appointment and Advice Call Center proposals. KP restated its counter proposal to increase the number of committee days for the regional Home Health and Hospice Professional Performance Committee (PPC) and Nurse Quality Forum (NQF).

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 20th day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente presented the union with a framework that would include a nurse as a member in each medical center’s Integrated Workplace Safety Subcommittee, including participation in existing KP workplace safety training.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 19th day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente presented a counter proposal to the union’s Home Health/Hospice Professional Performance Committee proposal, and withdrew KP’s Professional Attire proposal. The parties engaged in forthright, productive dialogue about Home Health and Hospice proposals, KP’s domestic violence resources, safety committees, Nurse Practitioner-related proposals, and electronic bidding.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 18th day of contract negotiations. Dr. Brigid McCaw, MD, MPH, MS, who leads Kaiser Permanente’s Family Violence Prevention Program, is a national expert on domestic violence prevention. She gave an informative presentation on Kaiser Permanente’s award-winning Intimate Partner Violence Prevention program, which serves all regional employees, physicians, and members.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 16th day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente presented a proposal for the organization to update the existing list of medical centers, medical office buildings (MOBs), and satellite MOBs in the collective bargaining agreement (CBA), with 30 days’ notice to the union, as KP opens, closes, or modifies use of its facilities in Northern California.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 14th day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente presented a counter proposal to the union, regarding annual skills training days. The union gave two proposals: one on break and meal relief nurse staffing, and another regarding reposting of vacant RN and Nurse Practitioner positions at medical offices and satellite facilities.

Kaiser Permanente and CNA reached verbal tentative agreement on three employer proposals, which clarify, update, or consolidate content within the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
