KP-CNA Bargaining Update #14

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 14th day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente presented a counter proposal to the union, regarding annual skills training days. The union gave two proposals: one on break and meal relief nurse staffing, and another regarding reposting of vacant RN and Nurse Practitioner positions at medical offices and satellite facilities.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the thirteenth day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente and CNA reached verbal tentative agreement on three employer proposals, which clarify, update, or consolidate content within the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the twelfth day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente shared that further implementation of the Clinical Alert Notification System (CANS) in hospitals and emergency departments in the region will be paused for one month, to respond to concerns nurses and managers have expressed about the rollout.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the eleventh day of contract negotiations. In order to bring the contract in line with our current processes for electronic bidding and awarding of positions, Kaiser Permanente proposed to update contract language accordingly and remove references to paper bidding.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the tenth day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente presented a proposal to copy a portion of Appendix M, which addresses fringe benefits for short-hour, temporary, and per diem nurses, into the body of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) to make this information easier to find.

KP-CNA Contract Extension

Earlier today, Kaiser Permanente and CNA agreed to extend the current contract to September 30, 2017 to give sufficient time for bargaining.¬†Bargaining is scheduled to continue Thursday, Aug. 17.

Kaiser Permanente and the union each presented proposals that generated questions and discussion from both parties. Kaiser Permanente presented a telecommuting proposal for Appointment and Advice Call Center nurses.
