KP-CNA Contract Extension

Earlier today, Kaiser Permanente and CNA agreed to extend the current contract to September 30, 2017 to give sufficient time for bargaining. Bargaining is scheduled to continue Thursday, Aug. 17.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the ninth day of contract negotiations. Kaiser Permanente and the union each presented proposals that generated questions and discussion from both parties. Kaiser Permanente presented a telecommuting proposal for Appointment and Advice Call Center nurses.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the fifth day of negotiations. Kaiser Permanente presented a proposal that KP may require RNs to wear standard professional attire, which KP would purchase and supply. Our proposal is based on nursing professional standards, as well as successful frontline RN-supported programs such as the one at our San Jose Medical Center.

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the fourth day of contract negotiations. Members of Kaiser Permanente’s bargaining team, along with experts from KP’s Regional and national offices, delivered a presentation about KP’s approach to providing a safe and secure workplace. Following the presentation, CNA’s industrial hygienist read aloud from the content of Cal-OSHA’s 8CCR 3342 regulation around workplace violence — all provisions of which Kaiser Permanente meets or exceeds.
