KP-CNA Bargaining Update, June 28, 2022

A key takeaway from today’s bargaining session is how aligned Kaiser Permanente and our nurses are in the priority we all place on equity, diversity, and inclusion in our communities, among our members, and in our workforce. Our opening discussions give us the opportunity to share ideas and discuss our respective approaches to attracting a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects our communities.

We are reviewing the union’s proposals and will ask clarifying questions to help us better understand how the details of these proposals connect directly to our nurses’ perspectives and the positive impact we hope to achieve for our nurses and their patients. We will also share information about KP’s existing programs and policies that support equity, diversity, and inclusion.

We know having a diverse and inclusive workforce makes Kaiser Permanente a better place to receive health care, a better partner in the communities we serve, and a better place to work. We’re proud that KP was named to the DiversityInc Top 50 Hall of Fame for the fifth year in a row, in addition to being recognized as a best employer for people with disabilities and for LGBTQ equality.

Improving the health of our communities and providing equitable care is also core to our mission. Our investments in Northern California communities include charitable health coverage and medical financial assistance, support for the education of new health care professionals, charitable contributions, and support for research to improve the delivery of health care for all.

Our next bargaining session is Thursday, June 30. We will continue to keep you informed.
