KP-CNA Bargaining Update #14

Today, Kaiser Permanente and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met for the 14th day of contract negotiations.

What happened

  • Kaiser Permanente presented a counter proposal to the union, regarding annual skills training days.
  • The union gave two proposals: one on break and meal relief nurse staffing, and another regarding reposting of vacant RN and Nurse Practitioner positions at medical offices and satellite facilities. The union gave informative presentations on both topics.

For the record

We are committed to offering nurses across the region the right type of training, using a variety of adult learning modalities. We value our nurses’ input on this important topic and believe that the Nursing Quality Forum, which regularly brings together nurses and Kaiser Permanente, serves as an appropriate venue for this discussion.

What comes next

Bargaining is scheduled to continue Tuesday, Sept. 5. We will continue to keep you informed.
