Building on Partnership as We Begin Coalition Bargaining: A Joint Message from Kaiser Permanente and SEIU-UHW
Please see below for a joint message from Kaiser Permanente and the Service Employees International Union – United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW).
Kaiser Permanente and SEIU-UHW are pleased to announce that we have reached a mutually beneficial agreement to ensure options, including the continued employment, for 63 gardeners in Northern California.
Kaiser Permanente is committed to the most expert, efficient, and ecologically sound practices that ensure the health and safety of employees and visitors, including how Kaiser Permanente grounds are maintained. By working in partnership, Kaiser Permanente and SEIU-UHW reached the best outcome: an agreement that will allow Kaiser Permanente to continue to modernize and innovate landscaping services with the help of experts, while offering our gardeners the broadest range of options including new jobs at Kaiser Permanente, voluntary transitions with financial support, or the option to continue as a gardener.
This is an outcome that benefits all involved and delivers high-quality services, affordability, and economic and income security for our valued employees.
This agreement is an important positive step as we build on our partnership and begin national bargaining next week with Kaiser Permanente and the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions. It represents our ability to find solutions together that benefit employees, members, patients, and the communities we serve.
As we work together toward a mutually agreeable National Agreement, we want to thank you for the work you do every day and your continued focus on making it possible for Kaiser Permanente to deliver on its mission of delivering high-quality, affordable health care to Kaiser Permanente members and patients.
